Dr Akshay Kumar Saha

Professor Saha is a Professional Engineer with Engineering Council of South Africa with industrial and academic experiences. He is the Academic Leader Research and Higher Degrees, School of Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

He is a Senior Member of SAIEE, SAIMC and an Individual Member Cigre. He is also acting as an Editorial Board Member for International Journals. He is responsible for teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Electrical Engineering and research at postgraduate levels. He was awarded the Best Lecturer Electrical Engineering in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by School of Engineering, and Research Excellence Award in the years 2015, 2016 and 2017 by University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Research interest includes: Electrical Power Systems; Applications of Power Electronics in Power Systems; Real-time Power System Modelling; Smart Grid Systems; Power Systems Protections, Standards & Protocols, Automation and Control; Renewable Energy & Distributed Energy Resources in Power Systems; Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Power Systems, High Voltage Power Systems (Research interest), Condition Monitoring (Research interest), Engineering Education (Research interest).

He has published 11 international journal papers including transactions in IEEE and IET and 80 international conference papers in relevant areas.
