Dr Kumar received his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Master of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2003, 2005 and 2009, respectively. 

He completed his post-doctoral studies from Autonoma University of Madrid, Spain. He has over 15 years of experience in academic and research. He has held various positions such as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. He is the author of many research papers published in various journals/conferences. He is serving as reviewer/member of editorial board for many journals/conferences. 

At present, he is working as Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering at UKZN. His current research areas include Design and Analysis of Microstrip Antennas, and Antenna Arrays.
