Study Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering

The Bachelor's degrees in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering are recognised as a qualifying degree for registration as a professional engineer under the Professional Engineers' Act, 1968 and subsequent statutes.
After a further period of three years as an Candidate, graduates may become registered Professional Engineers indicated by the letters PrEng.

The degree is recognised in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, UK and the USA.

Due to an agreement called the Washington Accord, it gives exemption from the qualifying examinations when applying for professional registration in these countries.

The degree also gives exemption from the qualifying examination of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE). Graduates may apply for full membership with the SAIEE and upon qualification. The SAIEE providers mentorship to register as a professional engineer as well as providing networking with colleagues in industry.
